WE HAVE H1N1 INFLUENZA VACCINE
FOR AGES 4 AND OLDER

TriValley offices have recently received an ample supply of H1N1 (“swine flu”) vaccine such that we are able to accommodate anyone who wishes to receive it. Although a first and severe wave of H1N1 flu has already occurred, a 2nd wave is expected this winter and this illness will remain prevalent over the next few years. The vaccine on hand is suitable for all patients ages 4 years and older, as explained below. Please make an appointment with your TriValley office to receive this protection.

Since the vaccine has proven to be safe and effective it is recommended for all, but especially for pregnant women, children and young adults ages 6 months – 24 years; household contacts of babies less than 6 months; and those with chronic heart, lung, neurologic, metabolic disease, etc. People in these groups are more susceptible to the complications of influenza.

Studies have found that many individuals born before 1957 have some antibody protection against H1N1, but this is not universal and they, too, should also receive the vaccine.

NOTE: The vaccine is provided by the government who sent TriValley a formulation that is not intended for children under 4 years of age. We are trying to obtain the correct vaccine for our youngest patients. Again, please make an appointment with your TriValley office to receive this protection.
